We had long wondered what we could do with an odd strip of woodland at the north of our site. A forest School was suggested but the shape and length did not really lend themselves the prospect.

However, we have recently acquired the adjacent woodland so can now begin to design and prepare the facility for both education and mental well-being organisations to learn, relax and recover from the covid era.

Dawn Goodwin, Teaching Assistant at Spotland primary school, Rochdale, viewed the site and said.

“It’s a brilliant location for a forest school, it’s just wild so the children can explore, they can choose their own boundaries, they can build dens just from the natural materials they find in the woods here. Get these children out here and they’ll learn so much more”.

It is our intention to engage with any of the local schools and children that want to help design the facility and programme of activities in the woodlands.
